The Works on Paper Fair once again worked successfully in partnership with City & Guilds of London Art School, to host printmaking workshops at the 2015 Fair.
The Art School’s own Print Room, which was established by Professor Norman Ackroyd CBE RA ARCA, focuses on traditional intaglio processes, led by Laura Clarke, including hard and soft ground; sugar lift; aquatint, and colour etching. The Print Room tutors are all artists with particular expertise in etching.
Visitors to the Fair were able to learn about the art of engraving, with the focus on the traditional intaglio processes.
Participants were shown examples of the different ways that artists have used the Intaglio process, including: engraving, dry point, and etching, and this will be followed by a brief demonstration creating and printing from a dry point plate.
Participants then had the opportunity to experience first-hand the elements described to them, and were able to produce prints from their own plates.
