About The Lost Tribe
A special project by Melanie Cheah and Peter Towse to bring a group of talented and under-recognised artists, collectively known as "The Lost Tribe", into the public eye through large exhibitions and, ultimately, the development of a new gallery.
Samuel Palmer, William Blake and the rural English landscape; 19th century barge paintings and signboards, fairs and fairings; private statements, meditations, spiritual and serene visions are the touchstones for this group of artists. All began to make art in the 1950s and 1960s and have pursued their visions for over fifty years.
Friends and colleagues for many years, this is the first opportunity they have had to show together in London. A well-kept secret gloriously revealed.
